The Story of Jack's
Jack’s Bar gets its name for Jack O’Neill the legendary founder of the hotel. The story goes that a young Jack O’Neill was herding sheep on a hill near Maghera when he came across a crock of silver. With his lucky find Jack was able to build the first hostelry here in 1760, although the hotel and bar have changed hands and there has been many changes since then somehow the bar has kept an air of its past in the very walls.
The bar was given a facelift in 2017 with the addition of our extra-large screen famous for playing sports and our stage where you can find the best local live music every Saturday night. The cocktail & gin bars were another popular additional to the bar, we offer a great range of premium cocktails and gins.
